FT.com - Fresh concerns about the outlook for the US economy and the credit market on Thursday, prompted a strong rally in Treasury bills, while the dollar fell to fresh lows and oil prices set a new record peak.

A Better Way to Talk With Unhappy Customers
No matter how much customer care training we conduct, some customers will dislike our service. They may become so irate that they confront us face-to-face, venting their frustrations–at times rather loudly and accusingly. Rather than reacting defensively (a natural response), try this approach to defuse angry customers.
If anything, these forms will provide your legal organization or your business's legal counsellor with enough proof against the worker should legal problems arise from the firing. First, the risk is medium when the worker is likely to sue, but you have good papers showing a legitimate dismissal. After all attempts to get the jobholder back on track fail, it is time to write the worker reprimand notification. As with the dishonest employee, an employee that pretends to not understand the job requirements is already trying to see how little he or she can get away with. Also once you lay off an employee, you have the legal right to refuse to give a positive reference. (I've included a cover note template in the worker Lay off Toolkit at the end of this book. As long as you are acting within the memorandum of the law, then yes you can hire or terminate for no reason at all within the scope of at will employment.

For example, we can't say "resign or be sacked." When we give ultimatums like this or make life unbearable for the high-risk worker, the employee can still sue us for unlawful termination when he resigns. First, the supervisor or the management must allow the employee a chance to make clear her or his behavior. Be aware that an employee can claim you terminated them based on age, creed, disability, national origin, religion or sex. If you are a small company owner, you might be the only supervisor. As the manager, you can get caught in the middle of a bad situation which can lead to lawsuits. I recognize that I've received a copy of this termination notification. Employee misbehavior often takes the form of disrespectful outlook and behavior. Employee theft is like a forest sack.
